Christian MacDonald

Christian MacDonald began his photographic career as a teenager in California, before moving to New York where he learnt his craft assisting legendary photographer Steven Meisel. With his degree from the Film Department of Art Center College of Design, Pasadena, and his study of analog darkroom techniques, he brings a deep understanding of how to orchestrate the visual world into his editorial and advertising work. MacDonald’s photographs convey an intense sense of place and the heightened moment of photographic engagement with his subject—always bridging the divide between fashion and portrait photography. He has created editorial photographs for magazines including Another Man, Dior Magazine, Document Journal, i-D, Interview, W, WSJ. Magazine, Vogue Paris, Vogue Nippon and British Vogue. His advertising clients include Barneys New York, Coach, DKNY, Hugo Boss, Marc by Marc Jacobs, Nike, Topshop, Versace, Alexander Wang.
